It is going to be a defensive battle.
>> As we take a look at each team's resumes, first off ising the mustangs.

They've shrunk down their press.
>> They are the darlings of the tournament.
This is the first ever state championship game that they can try to win a state title.
They played back here in 2000, losing, and junior Ava underwood.
She's dynamic.
And Laura Ryan can put a lot of pressure on opponents.
>> You'll hear that a lot from us here this evening, find the waive, they will ride the wave of substitutions and momentum.

>> So now let's play some championship basketball.
It's the 1A state title game top seated council bluffs St. Albert, taking on Newell-Fonda.
What is the key for the games?
>> You can't turn it over for the team, like council bluffs St. Albert.
Get the steals going your way and score a couple of points and then for St. Albert, what they need to do is find a way to score.
Find a variety of ways to score.
Inside, outside basketball and known they just need to required the wave and they're pushing staff over there, they are sporting those wave shirts, they look pretty good there.
>> The ball in the air, this one is underway as the Mustangs control the ball first.
For the Saintes Underwood, Lenz, Ryan, in and out as they try to go from downtown with Walsh.
Applying some pressure, it's not going to be easy and a forced but unforced turnover there.
>> Just put a little bit of pressure in the back court.
That caused that back cord, court, they have backed back down, three quarter court or into the court.
>> January the 4th, 63-56, St. Albert wins at Newell-Fonda.
Here is a three ball off the mark.
And that will belong to the Saintes.
>> Now they're extending this pressure.
All the way out.
>> Third overall meeting between the two.
There might be some nerves for council bluffs St. Albert.
Newell-Fonda has been a runner up though back to back seasons coming into this year.
In the lane the first shot by the Saintes looks about by Mora Ryan.
>> She's a little spent plug for them.
She knows how to get in amongst the tall players knows where she is at all times.
>> Tries to get down low off the fingertips of Walsh.
>> Early on, Newell-Fonda has got under some shots from the perimeter but it's been clogged up, they are looking for those shooters out around the arc.
>> Shot off to mark behinders.
>> Uf can seize how good Ryan is ball handling and she is able to get around the defenders and weave her way in.
>> Given to l St. Albert.
If you are joining our coverage from Youtube tell us where you're watching from within the comments section.
Thank you for all our viewers for tuning in.
>> You just add some other tweet, you were going to tell you where they were watching from.
>> From Florida, southwest Florida.
Meaning it's rainy.
>> This one, this tournament is a big draw across the country.
Lot of people tuning in.
>> And we wish you well wherever you may be.
It is the Iowa girls high school athletic union state basketball championships here on Iowa PBS.
Fouled by the body by paint Johnsen.
As Dick pelgt in his 14th season overall, used to be the boys coach.
Great conversations with both of these coaches.
And very passionate about the game, both are.
It's going to be a lot of fun.
>> Just so fun to talk to both of them.
And just those coaches both of them how they have transformed their philosophies and their ideas and just each and every season, they do a few things a little different.
>> Underwood caught up.
This one is going to be caught up.
Given to Newell-Fonda.
The Mustangs have a few substitutes into the game.
Sievers into the front court, her onus rebound put back there, that's a freshman.
Averaging over 14 a game.
>> Say there's no nerves there.
She just took the ball went right down the lane, didn't get distracted, didn't get down that she missed that first shot.
Stayed with it and got hers.
>> Newell-Fonda out in front Coughlin off the bench.
>> Now I think they're starting to work things out.
>> Vanders strong.
>> 61 points a game that is number 1 in 1A if they can get out and beat that first line of defense they can score a bunch of points.
>> Each team.
>> It will be like a line change in hockey.
Here is Underwood, power move and will go to the line to shoot too.
>> Underwood is so tough down low.
When she gets to the block area, she claims that spot and then she turns around and calls for the basketball.
They tried to double team her that time.
She was going to bully her way up to the ref.
>> Avah comes into the game averaging a double double, at 53% from the line.
St. Albert's goes to the bench.
Eleanor Coughlin, along with Lexi Darrington.
Those are her first points of the game April and now you can see St. Alberts pressure.
>> She can dribility away right through it.
>> There's one on the ground going to be tied up.
Saintes will get it back.
And that's what you'll see out of Eleanor Coughlin, number 4 for council bluffs St. Albert, 5-5.
>> Even coach Wettengel says I like the soccer players, it gives you advantage, see the block there, advantage ton footwork being able to get leverage, being able to get position.
>> Walsh got the squad and the Mustangs right back to their bench.
As Anna Mercer is back.
Foul will be called by Lexi Darrington.
>> They're always moving, they got the hands moving all the time, the feet moving.
Just too aggressive trying to swat that one away.
>> Now Sievers.
Trying to work against the two time, the high pass from Hinders.
From the wing.
That ball out of bounds it was on the end line so a fresh 35-second shot clock for Newell-Fonda, this one is tied up at six apiece.
>> You figure the game plan for Newell-Fonda is dribble drive in kick it out to the proximity shooters.
They did a good job of that trying to find someone open outside.
>> A great move.
>> When you move like that you have got pivot foot down, duck in underneath the defense don't need the shot.
>> There's Darrington.
>> Very patient, once she got the ball in her hands, she was able to wait, lets the defense go by.
The pivot foot down, defense slides away and Walsh recognizes it.
Base side open.
>> Walsh will pick up her first one.
>> You look every at the Newell-Fonda bench and none of them have a warmup on or shooting shirt on or anything.
Because they know they could be at the ballgame at any minute.
They all have to be ready.
>> Lexi Pierce h Pearce into the cex now for the Saintes.
-- contest for the Saintes.
To the rug!
>> Tough to drive through and dribble through it double-team even if you think you have good handles.
>> Hinders drives and finishes.
>> Great drive by Hinders.
Kind of stuck out that arm, cleared a little space.
Got the ball up off the rim.
>> Pearce, the kickout to Coughlin for 3.
Got it!
She is the spark plug.
She is the energizer of this team.
And you can see it there, she's made some big plays the last through times down the floor.
>> Hinders got off.
In a blocking foul going to be called on the Saintes.
That will be on Alexa Lenz.
>> Just relocating the spot, relocating behind the three point line ready to shoot.
>> Mercer in for Newell-Fonda.
This will be the freshman Sievers to in-bound it.
Mere is Walsh underneath, strong right hand, Mercer going back to the line to shoot 2.
>> Any time the ball goes into the post with Newell-Fonda, those players know how to keep that pivot foot down.
They have a variety of moves on the interior and have been able to draw fouls on St. Albert.
>> Darrington will pick up her second and will have to exit state left for the moment.
Molly Wise will come in.
It's 1 out of 2.
>> Both of of these games when we were pulling our notes together and looking at both of these teams, neither one of them are great free throw shooting teams and this could be close enough down the stretch but free throws may come into play.
>> One and done for St. Albert.
Newell-Fonda will hold the possession here as Sievers was trying to create tempo.
Now mawr Ryan will come back into the game.
Now a turnover on Newell-Fonda.
>> Thousands are productive minutes, they like to see you go out there and do something and produce something and that's exawctly what Coughlin did.
-- exactly what Coughlin did.
>> Here is Ryan working it on Sievers, little tip-up.
The bold movement to the inside as Sievers will come up with the loose ball.
Ellie caught up in traffic and will turn it over.
>> There's a time when you need to recognize you don't have the numbers and pull it back, wait for your teammates to come and help you.
>> St. Albert now with four turnovers, three turnovers for Newell-Fonda.
Left open for three, that's Vie.
This one's going to be tied up and it will stay with Newell-Fonda.
Well, St. Albert weights it by three in the track meet.
>> If you look a lot of these players we got soccer players, we've got track runners we've got cross country players on both sides, multisport athletes and right now it's a combination of basketball and track.
>> Hinders is going to pick up the basketball as Underwood had the good box.
She was a monster in this state tournament so far.
Double double 12 against 16 rebounds against bishop gair began.
>> 12 points, 16 rebounds and five assists.
Did a great job of picking it out of the post, forced a turnover with ten second counts.
>> Sievers with the pressure as Monahan will turn it over.
Now double screen high for Sievers back to Hinders.
On the drive.
Kinzee with 6.
>> It's not fogged up in the middle and pull up at the right time.
Hinders saw where the defense was and pulled up short.
>> Now Ryan to work, Brabec.
Wise in traffic.
Here is Ryan.
The three by Y.
>> Show can play multiple they townd her out in the proximity, look how quick Newell-Fonda got it down the floor!
>> You've got to run back in transition.
And Sievers gets her fourth point of the night.
Shot clock off.
As the first quarter is windings down here with 5 to go.
Ryan tries to force a shot.
It's going to be the end of the quarter.
And what a quarter it was!
1A state championship living up to the hype.
St. Albert leads it 17-15.
Let's go to Paul Yeager who's standing by.
>> We just sent down a case of oxygen after that first half, first quarter.
Let's talk about the semi time games for imoatd of these teams, Newell-Fonda against north Linn, last game of the semi final round, Jocee whrash, great passing and again, Ellie Sievers, with 3.
Newell-Fonda wins tray-38 after trailing to half.
Bishop Garrigan in your other semi time.
Team in white is St. Albert, St. Albert riding the wave into the finals.
>> And you're right, BJ and Lauren, those shirts are fantastic!
>> They're all about the way, I think we need to get in pink for Paul to wear next year.
>> I think so!
agenda.
The wave kind of fits in for the West Coast if you will for council bluffs St. Albert.
West coast of Iowa.
>> Great.
>> And council bluffs tough according to Mary Pearson, though are leading in here by 2 and this has been a fantastic show of defense.
Yep, there's some turnovers, ten combined but that's how these teams play.
>> You kind of expected that, just because of the nature of their defense.
Wise has come out and gotten a couple of big shots for St. Albert.
>> Certainly has.
She's got six on those two 3's.
Newell-Fonda, Paul mentioned, beet north Linn, game won't late into the fourth quarter before the Mustangs were able to corral it.
This is Newell-Fonda has yet to knock one of those down.
Transition back the other way, Johnson.
And a block, called on Brabec.
That will be her first.
>> Brabec mate a straight-line run to try to get those feet set, just didn't get there quick enough.
>> So paint.
>>John: Sen at the line.
Added 54% on the year.
Wettengel mentioning how important this is to the council bluffs community, playing for a state championship, they don't do it that often, not only their school but all the schools within council bluffs.
In fact the last time St. Albert was here was back in 2000.
Trying to bring the city's first ever girls state basketball championship back home.
>> We weren't sure if there was any girls state championship in any sport.
>> None.
>> But trying to bring the trophy home to council bluffs.
>> That ball is going to day with Newell-Fonda.
Contact, but tipped out of bounds by the Saintes.
Brabec into corner now to Hinders at the top.
She'll driver it in, Kinzeo.
Two-shot opportunity, as the foul was called on Maurn Ryan.
>> This is in bold, good moves by Ryan to get it into the front court.
Here is Johnsen inside to Ryan.
From three can't get to the fall.
Rebound by Johnsen and the put-back is there for paint.
>> Johnsen just went up hung on with her fingertips.
>> Knocked down by Hogrefe.
>> Not a whole lot of spin if you no when she shoots that ball, little knuckler, but she knocked it through.
>> Shooter shoot.
>> That's right, doesn't matter highway, as long as it goes through the hoop right?
>> From three point range, Underwood put it on the deck and Newell-Fonda will scrape it up.
Here is Brabec.
Slowing down for the moment.
Now Hinders charging in.
>> Slow for just maybe one heartbeat if that.
And then Hinders just saw the opening, little crossover dribble.
>> Three point game, here is the three left long.
And the rebound to Hogrefe.
Now Hinders again will charge in.
And it's tied up, hold it for Newell-Fonda.
Now the Mustangs will bring three in from their bench, buy back into the game along with Mercer and Sievers and also coming in for St. Albert, that's four players coming in for the Mustangs if you keeping track at home.
Coughlin is back identity there along with Darrington with those three fouls.
>> You look over there and you know you're going to have tower to eight players coming in to replace the ones that are on the floor.
>> And it's a one-point game after Mercer's basket.
Now the drive, unable to get the shot but catch it Ryan back at it again, goats the friendly roll.
>> I don't see how she gets her role around the Drive and able to slice through defenders.
>> Paul said she cut through like Swiss cheese, right?
>> That's right.
>> She's finding the hole.
Urched Wood found the ball and turned it over.
Mustangs have it.
Sievers, no, and a foul on Newell-Fonda.
That will be their second team foul here of the quarter.
>> Kinzee Hinders has done so much, she is their emotional leader, takes a really good defender to slow her down because she has great handles, she knows when to pick up and smooth it.
She's had an awfully good game.
>> Darrington, taken on the shot clock.
Here is Coughlin, strong off the glance.
Henderson back court, Hinders along the baseline and now a fall on her first.
>> She kept bumping, putting hands on, hand off, then finally they called her for being a little too aggressive.
>> Kirsten Piskorski into the game.
Also, Brabec back in.
This is Vie.
And the rebound by Mercer put back no good but will go to the line to shoot 2.
>> Mercer has done a good job crashing the boards for Newell-Fonda.
Got herself into positions, couldn't get to the end one.
>> The foul will be on Ryan her second, and she'll have to sit.
Knopf lo noasms freeze throw is not there, up top, Darrington will give way to Coughlin.
Now here's a three-ball, Piskorski can't get the ball and a foul.
Will be called against Lexi Darrington, that's her third.
>> That takes out one of the play, you had set rotations that you like to use and she's in a little bit of foul trouble so that alters, what Wettengel can do.
He has got a lot of players over there, lot of depth but when you try to get into a routine, knowing who's subbing in for you, that kind of thing through the last 3-10 and into the fourth quarter.
>> Nine players have hit the floor for St. Albert as Lexi Pearce and Underwood who got a little bit of rest.
>> There is Walsh, Brabec, she'll fire a 3.
And Coughlin uses that speed to track down the ball.
Now she'll run it ahead and a foul will be called on Mercer who is tracking trying to be the wolf.
>> Chasing it down tracking it down there behind but she is so quick.
Gets to the ball so quickly and you can see how fast she pushed the ball down trying to push tempo.
>> Short rest for Kinzee Hinders.
And Rylee back into the game for the Mustangs.
Coughlin at the center circle.
Now to the outside, the three, Monahan shot not there, gets her own rebound back.
And in the paint, a charge.
I love that, takes one for the team as Alexa Lenz will pick up her second.
>> Kind of felt like St. Albert could have brought that one back.
A lot of congestion, and Brabec did the threat of that one.
She stood her grounds.
Could bring it back up, I know you want playup tempo but there are times you can bring it back out and reset and get things going again.
>> Johnsen is back in, here is Hinders, in the pink.
What a shot.
And one!
>> She's got ten and will try to make it 11, as she'll go to the line.
>> This is pure strength.
Gets the momentum behind it.
Gets up gets the contact.
She knew it and she was going to the ground but that one was going through.
>> Lexi Pearce picks up her first.
Hinders can't convert.
It's quite a journey tonight each team at the towel line especially for St. Albert.
And a big bucket right at this end for Underwood, her first field goal.
>> We haven't called her name a well lot tonight.
To make any kind of -- >> The timeout here taken busy tic Jungers.
Let's hoch in with him.
>> We got to slows the ball up and get people back.
Offensively here, let's get them in.
Let's go ahead and run a tour aside.
We're really getting some good lux team on three, one two three.
>> First and foremost, you got to slow the ball coming down.
You don't want to allow them to fast break points.
You got to get some people in the back court to slow the ball handler down, allow your teammates to get back in defensive position, don't want to give up those easy points.
>> Three point lead for St. Albert.
From the corner, Hogrefe.
Rebound by wolf, Coughlin will >> Coughlin seems to be in the right place in the right time.
She's quick to the ball.
Speed and anticipation, knowing where the ball will be, she with her quickness able to find the spot more often than not.
>> What an atmosphere we've had the girls state basketball championships all week.
The finals last night and of course today.
All coming to this 1A championship game and it's been back and forth, up and down as you would expect.
To her left, can't get at the ball.
The 3.
Underwood, the rebound puts back there, good defense by the freshman Sievers and then right ahead, Sievers out in front of traffic, nobody is there and Ellie gets her sixth point of the night.
>> If you are St. Albert what coach Jungers was telling his team, somebody's got to find the ball and stop it.
>> Inside of 30 seconds to play in the half.
17 on the shot-clock.
As you see it winding down here.
Here's Underwood in the paint.
Strong, put-back not there, the follow-up is by paint Johnsen.
>> Now they got to get out and play defense.
>> Here's Hinders, full steam Walsh.
That's the end of the first half.
It's a one-point game!
Are you entertained?
>> I am entertained.
This one is everything we thought it was going to be, back and forth, back and forth.
A struggle to get points on the board.
>> Well I know he's got some popcorn somewhere but let's go to Paul Yeager standing by.
>> We have another good game in this night cap.
St. Albert up by 1 and joining us here is head coach for St. Albert, Dick Wettengel.
I love the attire.
What part of the wave are you for the team?
>> We are definitely more the theme tonight so we're just requiring the wave, anything that comes with it.
>> All right, so you've had a lot of intensity, a lot of pressure there.
Was that part of the game plan to play at this type of tempo?
>> That is what we did when we played at Newell-Fonda in January.
It was an up and down game just like this.
And, you know, we like to have style.
It fits us.
So we're going to keep playing it.
>> All right the pace is good the balance is good and so is the outfit, thanks coach.
>> Thank you.
>> That is coach Dick Wettengel at counsel bluffs St. Albert.

Gene berger would say, have you heard about this freshman?
Did Ellie think that some day she'd play here at the state tournament?
>> Definitely.
I dreamed about it.
My dad, that was our thing, every year, I'd take a day off of school, me and my dad would come down and I would take all this in and just dream about it.
And it all started back in 2005 when Pocahontas, the rest is history, Paul.
>> It is.
And there's three numbers that I like about your career.
2,951 points, your all time, all classes.
466 frees, 802 assists.
Which are those three numbers makes you most proud as a player and thoandz which one's better as a coach?
>> Honestly as a player, my fair one is the assists.
Just because I couldn't have done any of this without my teammates.
I love my teammates.
She's just shot the ball all the time?
No, actually I did pass the ball.
>> You did and you also shot the ball.
So there's Ellie with the head I heard you and Brad talk about that in the game.
I think this was the game Sioux center, there is some guy that you just hug on the sidelines.
He's everywhere with you.
Your dad was an assistant on the teams.

>> Let's slide this in here.
This is the haul of flame to you what were you thinking about?
>> Well the lights were pretty bright in my eyes, that's all I was thinking about and known I had these cameras like my face was going numb every time I was smiling.
It's pretty special, it's an honor and I want to thank all the people taking time out of thaifer h their evening and time to come, spirit lake, the team supported me, my parents.

>> It's been a great week and a long week for you.
And I know those ducks are running up all that adrenalin right 90 but when it's all said and done, you have a special place for many people.
And I know that you get stopped a lot when you're on press row or in the stands.
Though remember you.
What's that like when you get stopped still today like you're a big time celebrity here.
>> It's pretty cool that people can still remember my name and all the kiting things we did but I think it's funny.
I'm staying at a holt, I was eating breakfast the other morning and a couple stopped me to get pictures with their kids.
You are standing to the all time leading scorer.
They're cool.
It's all right, still pretty special.
>> Your sixth grade kids out at spirit lake, you want to say hello to them?
Is there homework on Monday?
>> I don't know what I'm walking into on Monday.
We'll go with the flow, moal sixth graders, shout out to all the teachers who hold down the fort whether I was gone.
>> Coaching, Todd Rogers was here with another school, he's now here with spirit lake.
I saw the two of you talking.
Walk me through that relationship.
Where did you pick up some of that coaching conversation?
I know your dad has done coaching, talk me as the coach and your breaking down of the game.
>> Todd and I have known each other, for a loaning time.
I used to play with his daughter McKenzie.
For us to meet like it's just a full circle moment back at spirit lake.
He's a phenomenal coach, really good at X's and O's strategy, and so good with the girls, so good with the youth programs.
He's an awesome person, another assistant on staff is Matt Coy.
We have a great coaching dynamic at spirit lake.
We had a great group of girls that got hot at the same time, they were here supporting me, brought the team down, that means so much to me.
>> You mean a lot to us too.
>> Paul you mean a lot to me.
>> Ellie, congratulations to you.
I'll stop shaking the table so I don't break that thing.
>> Thank you.
>> Looks nice, Ellie Rutherade.

>> Tuesdays at 6:30 and Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on Iowa PBS.
>> At the score board, flexing hoping to get their time back, so does head coach Dick Jungers.
Team in blue usually, they are playing the same type of game as you are so you should be very familiar with it.
What is it they are doing that is frustrating in that first half?
>> They are doing what they do really well, they crush the basketball, physical on defense and they're able to convert some transition opportunities and buckets.
Some of their shooters shook tree and they drilled some 3's.
Just two teams going toe to toe now.
>> How do you get them going the second half?
>> Just selling them, keep shooting the shots as they develop, when we have opportunities to go inside, we still want to go inside.
Just kind of trying to keep that balance there and limiting their good looks.
>> Kinzee Hinders is good on that, she keeps attacking that basket, it is something you need her to keep doing?
>> Yes.
Penetrating lanes opening up, we're finding them at times and that's to our benefit.
>> All right, Dick Jungers.
I always appreciate your conversation.
I know doing this interview isn't always fun but we really appreciate it.
>> It's not a normal Friday night for a coach here I can tell you that.
>> We need to talk to your radio guys and maybe they'll goat you ready for this.
You're a vet at this.
>> For the right sponsorship maybe.
>> Dick Jungers, thank you very much.
He's now superintendent of Newell-Fonda.
Kinzee is in a highlight.
There's a couple of them there, Hinders is finding them but boy she just blew right through the defense there.
It's been a very physical game.
Hinders has 10, first half points.
She's trying to get her team back in but for St. Albert it was Maura Ryan, and then it's going to be Eleanor Coughlin into the corner here for the three and bang just like that.
It is how we ended our first set of highlights.
So we with have one more, guess who's going to tell you about them?
BJ.
>> Laura what stands out to me, see if you agree, the three-point shooting of Newell-Fonda in that first half.
>> We talked about the fact that neither of these teams, they have struggled at the free throw, they have gotten to the line they just have not connected and have not bone able to find the mark from beyond the arc.
The other thing that is keeping them in the game is they have ten points off of turnovers.
St. Albert has nine turnovers, Newell-Fonda has turned them into points.
That has kept them in this ballgame.
>> We are about to get the second half on the way.
Johnsen, Ryan, Underwood, forp Newell-Fonda, it is Hinders, to cap off a fabulous week here.
Here is Underwood, a bucket right away.
>> That's how you start the half.
You two to your player that has scored a ton of points here in the state tournament, averaging the double double, get her the ball, get her a touch early on.
>> The junior 90 is 6.
Here is a 3.
Good, as it's knocked down by Van Der Sloot.
Her first bucket.
>> Coach Jungers said, we're going to keep shooting them, when they fet the good looks try to knock them down.
They certainly did.
>> The answer, no.
>> They're looking to run again.
Vanderhoff was looking, had her eyes up, thought she could get the ball to Hinders but just too much traffic between her and Kinzee.
>> Desnroacted out, it will the shot clock.
All tied up at 31.
Here's Hinders on Underwood, avoids the tieup.
A rebound for Underwood, she'll be fouled on it.
Underwood now with eight boards.
And that will be the third on Mercer.
And she'll check out in coming in is going to be Avah Vie.
>> Now if council bluff St. Albert goes right back into Underwood.
>> Up to the top of the key, Johnson will drive, no.
Hinders, tights for that rebound.
And now will be foiled by Johnsen who will pick up her second.
>> It's just so hard to rip anything cleanly from the rebound even when you're trying to dribble through Trask.
There are hands swatting at that ball all the way up the floor.
And you have got to take and protect the ball when you're pulling own a rebound or you're dribbling up the courts.
>> To the corner, Vanderhoff, strong, Brabec, put back, not there.
Underwood got the rebound and is fouled by Walsh.
That's her second.
Underwood scoring wise has been somewhat kept under wraps tonight, now looks to attack.
>> She did the right thing When she got the ball in the front court, she waited.
Didn't take the ball right ahead, waited to seize what the defense was doing and known attacked.
>> Brabec, can't get to the ball, this is going to go to St. Albert.
Then mufghts to the bank.
Rylee Hogrefe will check in for the first time.
As Ellie Sievers.
Work to go with Ellie Monahan.
>> Just make it so difficult on the catch pushing them out away, not allowing them to get into that offensive set that they want to have.
>> Underwood backing in against the two-time.
Too strong.
Good rebound by Hinders who is so strong.
>> So strong and look at her to lead the break.
>> Sievers too.
>> Saw the double team come but she didn't get the shoulder turned around and square.
And that load to this runout and the foul.
>> Payton Johnsen will pick up her third.
Shooting person 82%.
Knocks down the first one.
The Saintes to the bench, Eleanor Coughlin in.
Also in is Alexa Lenz.
Cox into the front court.
Underwood, left it short, gets her own rebound, put back is not there.
Hinders has it taken away and tide up is Newell-Fonda, who have the lead at 2. start this third quarter, both of these teams earning the points that they have gotten so far.
Diswhrand a foul here called on Alexa Lenz, that's her third.
So the foul trouble is mounting.
Johnsen, Lenz, each with 3, along with dairlgt.
Mercer has three for Newell-Fonda.
Here is the 3 by Hinders.
>> Look out, the spark plug is in the ballgame.
>> And down on this ends, Underwood going to be fouled by Hinders.
>> You know things are going to happen when Coughlin is in the ballgame.
We talked about how quick she is in the first half.
Butter she got that ball and turns it immediately, starts that break.
>> Beg your pardon, that was laimple Lenz who was fouled.
The first free throw in and out.
St. Albert is four of six from the line.
Walsh back in along with Jaicee Vanderhoff.
Unable to connect on the free throw was Lenz.
One-point Newell-Fonda lead.
>> How about this matchup, the bigs in the back court, Underwood playing defense.
>> Point forward, Laura.
>> Point forward, you got it, maze handle the ball very well.
>> Vie is three.
No, Walsh had it, fouled.
That's Lexi Darrington, that's going to be her fourth, she's going to have to sit and sit for a long time.
>> Put the palms here and said hey, I was just going for the basketball.
And show was.
There were a lot of bodies.
Hinders with the off balance off the glass.
>> Her first biscuit of the second half, thousand with 12 and the largest lead here for Newell-Fonda at 3.
The three-ball put up and hit.
Molly Wise, her third triple of the night.
She's been the one that's been on fire from beyond the arc.
They need to continue to find her.
>> Coughlin forces the turnover but stepped on the end line.
Brabec and Hogrefe, back out on the floor for Newell-Fonda.
>> One of the things that we've talked about all week is when you have pressure defense like this that we're seeing from both teams, ball fakes go a long way in getting a defender out of position, a pump fake, a pass fake, get that defense to move and maybe GIF you a little bit better opportunity in running your offense.
>> Avah Underwood, that's her first.
Fifth team foul with Jocee Walsh.
Better in second half, they've hit all three.
>> Yes, that first half struggle at the line, they were one of seven.
>> This is the second.
Underwood with the board, Newell-Fonda by 1.
Here's Underwood on the ra tack.
-- on the attack.
>> Show gets those shoulders square, she's deadly.
Able to slice through the defense.
Hit that mid range jumper.
>> Sievers measuring.
Good ball movement by Newell-Fonda, they go around the perimeter.
Hinders, into traffic, that is Ryan uplifting.
1 on 2, will attack.
Can't get at the ball, Brabec out with the numbers the other way.
Brabec, slows it down.
Here's Sievers.
She'll drive in, challenges Underwood and Underwood wins and it's last touchtone by Newell-Fonda.
>> Sievers felt like she got beyond that initial defense, but in it is, off of Sievers.
>> Body away, left hand in.
So the Saintes lead it by one now.
This has been a seesaw battle.
Here is Coughlin to the corner.
Inside Underwood, works it underneath, strong shot, gets told and will go to the line.
Hindz will pick up her second.
-- Hinders will pick up her second.
So coming into the game now for the Saintes, when she's allowed to enter is going to be Eva Jones.
She's going to be the 10th player that St. Albert has played.
And in her 21st game.
And she played two minutes in the quarter finals.
>> Well I oh a lot of that is due to the foul trouble that they've gotten themselves into.
Johnson oh Johnsen with three, Lenz with three, got to go a little bit deeper on that bench.
>> Avah hurnd Wood, letting that go, in double figures.
And a double double, also with 11 rebounds is Hinders, no basket, fouled on the floor.
And that is going to be the second on Coughlin.
>> Coughlin is trying to rotate out defensively, stuck that knee out and got called for the foul.
And Newell-Fonda in the bonus.
>> Hinders able to knock down the free throw.
The state of Iowa is blessed programs including Bryer Cliff.
They've got morning side, York, Northwestern, all playing in the NAIA field of 64.
>> A lot already have them in the talent in basketball also in softball that you see those schools advance into nationals.
>> 39-38, Coughlin on the drive.
Walsh caught up in a double team and backwards.
And a time out going to be taken by Newell-Fonda here.
39-38.
So where are these two teams from?
Of course you may know where Newell-Fonda is from, seven of the last eight state this game, hailing from Northwest Iowa, they are very familiar with that 142 mile drive.
And counsel bluffs, Taliban, straight up I-80 to goat here to Wells Fargo arena.
The 1A tournament has been really open.
You've got the 1 seed against the 3 seed.
These two teams have really earned that I way to the championships and we've seen it here tonight.
>> It's been battles in the quarter finals and in their semi finals.
They have really had to work to get themselves into this position to play for the championship.
If you look at both of these teams, it is the style that they both play, that there were a lot of turnovers in both their quarter finals and semi finals.
To advance.
>> How about the offensive board by Hinders and then the put back through the contact.
>> Powerful rebounds just steps right through two defenders.
>> Underwood picks up her second.
Hinders going to try to add to the lead here for Newell-Fonda.
And does.
What a night for her.
17 points for Kinzee Hinders.
>> And earlier she had 20 so she's right on track to score where she did earlier in the season.
>> Ryan trying to roll into Underwood.
Newell-Fonda ul trying to cranch back down.
Here is Ryan back, Underwood put back no but towel.
That's on Walsh.
>> Underwood has stepped up big here this this third quarter.
A little bit more active than she was in the first and second quarters.
>> The first free throw short.
>> Third quarter got it by going into her, getting her a touch, she responded by getting two points to start this second half.
>> Seven of 11 is St. Albert from the line.
Here's the three by Vie.
And the rebound, to Underwood.
That will put Underwood back on the other side to shoot some free throws.
>> Both teams got into the bonus early in the third quarter.
So it's been a free throw shooting contest, choppy play because we've had so many free throws being shot.
>> Sievers will pick up her first.
An 0 for her last three.
Sometimes it's a lonely feeling there.
She wants to play college basketball, right 90 receiving division 2 offers from Minnesota state, 0 for her last four, Newell-Fonda leads it by 2.
>> I think when it's all said and done, I think these coaches will go back and look at the free throw shooting column to see if they won it there or lost it there.
>> About identical 90, as Hinders shot off the mark.
St. Albert 7 of 13 from the line.
Here is a 13 busy Wise.
Shot clock off, Sievers will run it ahead.
Goes to the lob, nobody home as Hinders had fallen down.
>> Got her feet tangled up.
They were trying to fill that middle of that lane, got tangled up she went down and that pass went to no one.
>> Hinders will check in for Coughlin.
Also Mercer back in for Newell-Fonda.
Shies in for Hinders.
Final seconds of the third quarter.
Ryan inside, Underwood for two to tie it up.
>> She started on the left side of the board.
Telling him directing traffic, cut over, got into position and they fed her the basketball.
>> Underwood, the bucket-getter For stabt aas they tied it up.
We caught up with the north Polk cheerleaders, adding a little flair and inspiration, provided by the Iowa girls athletic school union.
Surprising players and coaches.
>> Did you get clipped?
Have you gotten clipped?
>> I prefer thought to say Laura.
What a game!
>> It has better than a great game.
>> Why not to cap off a fantastic season of Iowa girls high school basketball?
>> We thought it was going to be a struggle to score some points, we knew it was going to be a lot of defense, we knew it was going to be this close and you're right, what a great game to end on this fun fun basketball season here in the state of Iowa.
difference here?
>> Free throws, it's going to be physical down the stretch so both teams are going to get to the free throw line.
You've really got to concentrate when you step to the line and that's going on the difference for either one of these teams.
>> Council bluff, St. Albert, two players in foul trouble, Jocee Walsh and Anna Mercer, Underwood Wise Monahan and Johnsen, it would be Sievers, Walsh and Mercer, for the Mustangs.
Rebound deflected out, going to stay with St. Albert.
19 on the shot cloak.
>> Underwood doing what I asked players to do all week.
Show kept her feet on the floor, went vertical.
>> This one will stay with St. Albert.
All tied up at 41.
Johnsen will put it in play here.
Good matchup here with Ryan own the freshman Sievers.
Urnd whood squares, draws the double team, triple team, kicks it out to Wise her shot off the mark and this will go to Newell-Fonda.
Back to the bench for the mufght, Ava Vie will check in.
Relive the championship excitement, share these with your family friends and neighbors, visit Iowapublictelevision.org.
For archives of these games at any time.
>> Here's Hinders.
Now to the quarter, Vie.
Can't get the roll, Underwood at the board and is tied up.
It will stay with Newell-Fonda.
>> A set play where they get the double high screen, had Hinders come around to draw the defense to her and kick it outside for the three point shot, just did not get the roll on that one.
>> Here is the lob on to Hinders, Kinzee Hinders, with 14.
>> When show can gather that shot up, rise up and hang, she's very tough in inside.
>> Hinders out ahead, Sievers to the basket.
>> Good hustle by Underwood to get down, cause a little bit of distraction on that layup.
>> On the corner, the 3 by Johnson, no, Underwood got the board and was undercut by Sievers.
Will pick up her second.
>> Trying to see that one unfolding as Sievers was trying to box out, trying to get out of the way, got a hit up underneat Underwood.
>> And the Saintes will put it in play with Monahan.
So irnd Wood on the -- Underwood on the block, threw a double team, Avah Underwood, what a block.
>> That's what she's done all tournament long.
12 points, 16 rebounds in the semi finals, at another double double here in this game.
>> Brabec.
>> What a shot!
>> The junior able to find a way.
>> Not sure how she got through there, just sliced through the defense.
>> Loose ball, who wants it out of bounds.
It will stay with St. Albert.
>> Brabec did a great job of just turning the shoulders, protecting the basketball as she went up for the hoop.
>> So Lexi Darrington, four fouls, Alexa Lenz in the game with those three, also in for St. Albert.
22 on the shot clock.
There's Coughlin.
At 5 in the first half.
Has yet to score in the second.
Lenz, too strong.
>> That didn't get any rim so on the shot clock.
>> By Underwood, Walsh gives way to Hinders.
Kinzee calls for the charge, as Coughlin, that's a tough kid right there.
As Hinders will pick up hoar third.
>> Hinders looked up and once she was able to get the shoulder around the defense, decided she was just going to take it all the way.
And what a great read by Coughlin to step in and take that charge.
She's been really afraid of anything and that's that soccer mentality that she's showing off right there.
>> Lenz to Coughlin.
In traffic to Underwood, pick and roll.
And stepping out of bounds will be Mercer 12 on the shot clock here.
What are they doing the Avah Underwood?
Any time she touches it flez Jerseys are on it.
>> It's a double team, and somebody helps out and triple team.
She's having a hard time trying to find a way to pass out of that.
>> Darrington cleans it up and ties us up at 45.
Hinders, to Sievers for three.
Mercer no, but down.
And that might be it for Darrington.
It is.
That's her fifth.
>> She got her from behind.
United Wood had a clean block in front.
-- Underwood had a clean block in front.
The drive then the back side, weak side rebound by Darrington.
The defense only to pick up hoar 5th foul.
FTC -- her 5th foul.
>> So the 5'10 sophomore will check out.
With Ann NSA Mercer, little strong on the opening free throw here.
Now Rylee Hogrefe will come into the lineup for Ava Vie.
Next, money for Mercer.
End of the quarter, looking to drive, Wise, now to Coughlin, in the paint.
Oh, found a teammate, Underwood.
>> What a pass, presence of mind, see the floor and know when to take it as far as she did and then dish it off.
>> Coughlin out there dropping dimes.
>> St. Albert by 1.
Four minutes left.
Hinders in the paint.
On one.
>> They need a bucket, though get Hinders set up, usually on the dribble drive, get her inside she can go through so much traffic and so much contact.
>> And a timeout going to be taken here by Dick Wettengel.
30 second timeout.
48-47 our score.
Let's go inside that huddle.
>> You were guarding 55s, still for the team, right?
All right you can do it.
Hey now we got to make sure we box out on this freethrow.
Right?
She's the one that made big plays last night, don't let her goat anything loose.
Let's come out with an Illinois.
One two three.
>> I think coach is aware of the freethrow goals off both teams, don't let them get a second chance opportunity off of a missed free throw.
Come alive here in the second half.
And Coughlin on the inside.
>> Hinders misses the freethrow.
Newell-Fonda will still lead it by 1.
Kinzee Hinders with 21 points, seven rebounds.
Three assists.
Here is Underwood, the kickout, the 3, strong off the glass for Monahan.
Last touched by Newell-Fonda, press 35, second shot clock for the St. Albert Saintes.
The table stakes, St. Albert looking for their first ever state championship for girls basketball.
Newell-Fonda trying to win their 5th.
State championship game seven out of the last eight.
School overall in the state championship game is 4 and 8 coming into this one.
>> They just continue to produce teams that make it to the state tournament jeer in and year out.
It's their culture and it's just what they do.
They teach the style of basketball from the lower grades on up.
>> The reverse, oh that hit the top of the back board.
Coughlin, now the 3, no, rebound, Hinders.
>> So many opportunities and so many good looks.
>> And a timeout here taken by Newell-Fonda as Hinders was caught up in back court.
>> And close to a ten-second call.
So coach Jungers gets the timeidentity.
>> Newell-Fonda will be left with two time the outs remaining.
There are four timeouts remaining for St. Albert.
>> Well far go arena, the wall of player names, posted messages, yes, and the pink lights in the entry with the school stickers on the floor.
Just the neat atmosphere to get players fired up for some tournament basketball, all part of a fun week here in Des Moines.
>> The fans are certainly having fun.
And they know this is going to be a fun two minutes and 49 seconds to the final buzzer.
To see who is going to take home the 1A championship.
>> 48-47, Newell-Fonda.
Earlier this year we mentioned that St. Albert had won and after that win, St. Albert became the new number 1 of the state and held on to that spot since January the 10th.
For Newell-Fonda, it's been a little bit of an up and down, coach Dick Jungers said they finally hit their groove when they strrted to play in the postseason, really turned things on, all the way to this game, leading it by 1, 2:40 to play.
Here's Mercer for freeze.
Rebound to Coughlin who is the third team foul.
And Kinzee Hinders, that's a big one, that's her fourth.
>> She's got to be smart about some things, how she plays defense, when she crashes the board and if you are St. Albert you're going right after her.
>> What sort of recognition is out there as Ryan will bring it ahead, can the Mustangs still have a one point lead into the corner to Coughlin, inside Underwood, Hinders could not challenge.
Underwood gets the bucket and gives the Saintes to lead.
>> They recognize that, they got the great initiation from Coughlin just working a two-player game with Underwood.
>> Sievers, yes!
Highway about that for a freshman?
>> That is a huge bucket.
I'm note sure if St. Albert was expecting that to go up that quickly.
>> Not afraid of the moment.
Underwood inside on the double team, now to Coughlin.
Ryan, now the three from the corner, that's in it, rebound plot with Underwood in it.
That's foul, fourth team foul and for Walsh that will be her for it.
So some foul trouble for Newell-Fonda, Hinders and Walsh, four each, Mercer with three.
>> Well now, the interior play is going to become very big for council bluff St. Albert because they can go in there and challenge those two players that have four fouls.
>> Wise too strong and the rebound whrach.
It is a -- Walsh is a big stop for Newell-Fonda.
>> This is a very important defensive stand here.
For council blufers St. Albert.
-- for council bluffs St. Albert.
>> Here is Sievers holds up, too strong off the glass and the rebound to stawbtd.
>> They got their stop.
Now it's their turn to see if they could tie it up or go out by one.
They are going to take a timeout and play the game they are up to playing.
>> Let's hear what they're talking about.
>> Make sure you know when you're out of bounties, you get a good kick right?
We've got to start getting the ball inbounds right?
Run, run your Saintes, dream what you got.
All right?
Dream what's open, something's going to be open.
If you have given inside, she's All right?
All right.
Make or miss, you have to have a style.
All right?
So you got to pick up defense.
We don't want to put them at the foul line yet.
We got to have a stop.
Yep.
Okay here we go.
One two three Saintes!
>> Win over all important things as far as timeouts, how many fouls we have, go up and draw foul number 5 but they only have two time fouls but they had do and they can play aggressive defense if they miss.
>> Ryan will control it.
Now to Coughlin, to the hoop, can't get the bucket, rebound to Hinders.
Here's Sievers in back court.
Now, the throw-down.
Mercer going to be fouled busy Wise.
>> Not going to put them on the line.
>> Wise with her first.
Make it her second.
>> But the shot clock resets.
So it's 35 seconds that they have on the offensive end here.
>> Let's hear what Dick Jungers has to say with Newell-Fonda.
>> Let's get a line there, we get back identity, okay?
They're going to be coming after you so be strong with that ball, okay?
Be strong with that ball.
The next thing we do have a full shot clock we can run that down too, okay?
We don't have to rush something, okay?
But we have to go back on defense.
Team on 3, one two three.
>> You have a full shot clock but be patient but if something opens up for you go ahead and take it but don't force anything, the other thing is take after the basketball because they're going to be coming after you.
>> Newell-Fonda won their first ever girls state basketball championship in 2015.
Then they won three straits, there 19 to 2021.
Lost four starters from last season's team and right now have a two-point lead with under 40 to play.
Sievers trying to avoid the double team, wurnd wood.
Position arrow for St. Albert.
>> They still got somebody they have the pickup top, they were able to switch and keep the defensive pressure on Sievers.
>> Now Ryan, look to hand it off to Wise, to Coughlin, they want to go inside.
Here is Wise, skip pass to Coughlin, down to ten seconds to play.
Coughlin will play.
We are tied at 51, time out Newell-Fonda, 5.4 seconds to play!
>> Nothing was really happening, and it looked like there's a little confusion in who was going to take that last shot, and Coughlin all of a sudden decides I'm going to do it.
Slices in through the defense.
And Hinders had to lay off of her as she came in for the layup because she didn't want to pick up foul number 5.
>> Tied at 51.
If you are Newell-Fonda, who you going to?
shooters but I think you got with Hinders.
You put the ball in her hands she can handle it.
But they're going to put a lot of pressure on the back court.
You have fouls here you have one foul to give if you are St. Albert.
So you can play pretty tight on their -- you can't towel if they are trying to hit a half court shot.
>> And three are trying to get a one point at 5.4.
>> You make it difficult on them bringing up the ball and then knowing you have that one foul that you can give that you can play with, little house money.
>> Coughlin with the bucket, trying to force overtime.
Hinders will inbound.
Now to Sievers.
Little give and go.
Hinders into the front court, into the paint, tied up, no foul, no shot, and we're going to head for some extra basketball.
>> Coach Jungers not heap.
Thought there was some contact on that last call.
And they did exactly what they wanted to.
Get the ball to Hinders.
She had a full head of steam going right down the middle of the court.
>> Let's go to the Newell-Fonda huddle.
>> Let's go.
Play four more minutes in the most awesome stare we can ever play in, isn't that awesome?
One play at a time starts with the stop.
Stay offensively here.
First time down I want a one high shift, don't go too fast, let her go, if you can get her down the side a little bit, we can play, all right, got that?
One to tip here, one high shifter, okay, which basket are we going to?
This one okay?
So you guys know that.
>> You know, coach helping kind of cool and call everybody down.
I love the fact that he said, hey we are playing another four minutes in probably the best environment we'll ever play basketball in, how great is that?
And then he just at the end want to check, hey what basketball are we going for?
Just want to make sure everybody is engaged.
>> There's Hinders and the tip controlled by Walsh, as Brabec will bring it ahead.
Now to Sievers.
Sievers in the paint from 15.
Can't get the ball rebound to Underwood.
And back court with Ellie Monahan.
Guarded by Sievers.
Johnson into Underwood, it travels, bunny hop, hauled in the pass.
>> Trying to get that momentum.
And sometimes you get ahead of yourself, you just take that little bunny hop as you're making your move to the hoop.
>> Hinders will be at the point.
No because of foul trouble, a double high screen, Hinders will drive, and we'll be tied up, possession error, given to St. Albert.
>> All ball when players are driving in, we've seen a lot of held balls and right there, Johnsen able to get in and tie up Hinders.
Though have tried to run that play earlier, and Hinders was able to get the and-one.
They want it to Underwood.
Now works against Hinders.
Drive to catch the bucket.
20-20 night now for Avah Underwood,.
>> Once she repositioned, show could take it right at Hinders.
>> Hinders now at the left hand over to Mercer.
Foul, go to the line to seek 2.
>> Collapse down on Hinders, great vision to see Mercer right down there in the block.
>> This is the front end.
You were mentioning it was going to come down to free throws as Johnsen picked up her foul.
Coughlin will come back in for her.
And rebound to Underwood.
>> Next foul for both of these teams, they will be in the bonus and it will come down to free throw shooting in this overtime.
>> Coughlin with the crossover.
Now the three-ball.
>> Too much about Monahan this ballgame only two points but comes up clutch in a big moment.
>> Now it's a big lead, Hinders.
This is all contact.
And that will put her at the line as this goes against Molly Wise her second.
>> Dribble drive, that draws steps back and call reply knocks down a big, big three pointer.
>> Clock stopped with 2:02 to play for the Mustangs to capitalize O for the last three, O for 3 in overtime.
As Brabec will come back into the contest for Mercer.
>> I think now those can mix, I believe they're going to pick up full court.
>> They are.
Two minutes remaining.
Avah Underwood, the big night, 20 points, 20 rebounds.
Brabec comes up, to steal from Underwood, clock stopped with 1:43 to play.
And Mareni Brabec choots ooh shoots.
>> It has bone a struggle all season long, and tonight even so a struggle.
>> 10 of 22 now.
>> Brabec not having any issue knocking that one down.
And this is exactly a perfect score for them.
They've got the clock stopped, able to get points when the clock is stopped and get a little bit closer.
>> 2-point game.
Ryan in back court and leadership busy the sophomore drives it in the paint.
And overshot the hoop.
Was some contact.
A no call.
>> A no call but a gutsy no call.
As Walsh was in there trying to take the charge with four fouls.
Those can go either way.
>> Cinders looking to turn the corner and does.
And a charge by Hinders and that's it.
>> We have run this play several times for Hinders.
Council bluff St. Albert finally figured out to get to the spot they converged to the spot beet her to it and were able to get the charge and she picks up foul number 5 and has to go to the bench.
rebounds and her final game in a Newell-Fonda uniform.
Coughlin into the top court as she comes in for Hinders.
>> From the corner, for 3, rebound clock, to Ryan, can't goat the bucket.
Walsh will clean it up.
Ahead to Sievers.
Sievers, for the tie.
No, they're going to call it first.
>> They goat the offensive rebounds, could have run it back, run more clock, made them foul or made them play defense for 35 seconds.
>> Underwood wants to get it in.
And a five count on St. Albert.
This is really getting interesting!
And Newell-Fonda will take a timeout, they'll leave themselves with one.
Council bluff St. Albert trying to bring home the championship.
Let's go to their huddle here.
>> All right.
Same thing as last time whether you had the ball identity of bounds down on the baseline.
You have to communicate!
All right.
Call down any screaming action.
Most important thing is, taking away the lane, don't let 13 beat us.
All right?
Don't let 13 beat us.
And box out and come out with the rebound.
They are going to have to foul you.
If you get the ball back.
throw line, all right?
You need to stop, all right?
All right.
One two three.
>> Looking for one stop is what coach is asking them for.
And he said, secure it, because if they don't make it they're going to come after you.
You got to secure the basketball.
>> Sievers will inbound it.
Gets it to Walsh.
And she'll go to the line to shoot two.
Walsh tonight from the free throw line is 1 out of 4.
>> Now, the opportunity to tie it up.
lead in overtime for the tie.
>> Stepped up there so callly and knocked both of hers down.
>> I got it.
That's what she said.
>> She didn't look at anybody.
She said give me the ball, I'm going to tie this thing up.
>> Tied at 56.
30 seconds to go.
In overtime 1.
Here's Ryan, Underwood has it deflected away to Sievers.
Reebd now to Sievers, shot clock is off, Sievers out ahead to Vie.
Now down to 10 and the final timeout can be taken here by Newell-Fonda with an opportunity to win a championship.
Let's go to the Newell-Fonda huddle and see how they draw it up.
>> All right, we're going to go ISU okay, we're going to go ISU, I'm going to have you start on the block, okay, you're throwing it in, you are cutting to the corner.
After she cuts, you flash, it is going to be a give and go to Ellie, okay?
Take to the rim, just good luck.
Rest of the guys are ready for a 3.
Now we score say we got to slow that ball now and hustle back.
Something quick here, okay?
Now, we got to get that one, okay?
Flashing the ball, okay?
Two up top, if we don't gain on the give and go, we'll go a one high, gut cut off, yes, team on three, one two three.
You're on top of Rylee.
>> Who's going to get it?
>> Looks like Sievers is going >> The freshman!
>> She's going to be the inbounder, take the flash to the hoop, take it the way to the rim.
It's the way we've drawn it up.
>> Each team in the bonus, to Walsh, to Sievers, fumbled it.
Vie to the top to hoaferg, Brabec for the title.
Overtime number 2 coming up next!
>> We got a good look at it, even though there was all that quoouchtion and they bobbled the ball, they just goat a shot off, it came up a liberty short, but they have an opportunity to try to win it.
>> Wow!

Sievers to the rack.
Strong and Coughlin with the rebound.
Coughlin will run it ahead.
Looks to attack, Wolf got lower.
The poke from behind by Vie.
>> Little race horse basketball there to start this overtime.
>> These players, even though they play a lot of players, have to be a little bit exhausted here.
>> Yeah, they get the subs in, but normally they do it based on the four quarters of play not the two extra periods that they're playing.
>> To the lead.
Now underwood in back court.
Did we say these two teams earned their way here?
